OUR STORY

Rooted In Lived Experience

Behind Bravique is our family —
and a journey we never expected, but wouldn’t change.

We’re a busy household of five children, each bringing their own personality, strengths, and joy into our home. But like many families navigating autism, our path has required us to rethink what life, education, and support can look like.

Bravique isn’t just built for families — it’s built by one.

It’s shaped by:

the hard days

the unexpected changes

the small wins that mean everything

And our hope is that when you’re here, you feel:

understood, supported, and not alone

the heart of the matter ...

Sammy

Sammy is at the heart of Bravique.

He is autistic and non-speaking, and experiences the world in his own unique way. Over time, school became increasingly difficult for him, and eventually led to school refusal — a reality many families quietly navigate.

This shifted everything for us.

Sam stepped into the role of full-time carer, creating a safe and supportive environment at home, while we worked together to better understand what Sammy needed to thrive.

Sammy has taught us more than we could have ever imagined — about communication beyond words, regulation, patience, and seeing progress in ways that truly matter.

A Father & Son Vision

Before becoming Sammy’s full-time carer, Sam worked in the disability support sector and also brings a background in professional performing arts — a unique combination of empathy, creativity, and practical skill.

The Father & Son Collection was born from this space.

It’s not just about creating resources —
it’s about creating meaningful opportunities for Sammy to be involved, to contribute, and to build something alongside his dad that carries purpose now and into the future.

Research & Advocacy

Mummy- Researcher/Educator

Alongside our family journey, Bravique is also shaped through ongoing research.

As a mum, educator, and researcher, I am currently exploring the experiences of families of non-speaking autistic children — particularly around education, support, and the decisions families are faced with.

This research is deeply personal.

It’s driven by a desire to:

better understand the challenges families face

advocate for more responsive and flexible support systems

and ensure that the voices of families like ours are heard
